April 23, 2009.  I'm particularly proud of this tiny panorama.  The following day the level dropped to 1.08% which is now the lowest on record.  1 day off but I'm ok with that.  This image is also part of the Wikipedia entry for the Hume dam.

 

So how much is 1.10% of full?  Still about 33.4 billion litres for this reservoir.  Lake Hume is quite shallow, as you can sort of see.  Unfortunately there was a lot of smoke about from some exceptionally bad bushfires but in a way it sort of adds to the post armageddon feel.

 

Interesting trivia.  With the gates full open and at 100% capacity, the dam can dump 7.929 million litres of water per second.  That would be sheer terror to see in action.
